A free ballistic calculator and DOPE book in your pocket

Know your holds before you take the shot. Caliber's bullet drop calculator turns your load, zero and conditions into elevation and wind corrections in MOA or mils, and scope clicks. Save it as a DOPE card and confirm it at the range.

Bullet drop, wind drift and clicks

Enter your bullet's ballistic coefficient (G1 or G7), muzzle velocity and weight, your sight height and zero distance, then the distance to the target. Caliber gives you the elevation hold, wind hold and the number of clicks on your scope, plus remaining velocity, energy and time of flight.

  • G1 and G7 drag models
  • MOA or mil scopes, with your click value
  • A drop chart out to the distance you choose
  • Save rifle profiles for each rifle and load

Real-world conditions and shot angle

Air density changes where your bullet lands. Add temperature, altitude or station pressure, humidity, wind speed and direction, and the shot angle for uphill and downhill shots, and the solution updates.

  • Temperature, altitude, station pressure and humidity
  • Wind speed and direction
  • Uphill and downhill shot angle

A DOPE book that lives with your rifle

Keep a DOPE card for every rifle and load, with your holds at each distance. When you confirm a hold at the range, mark it confirmed. Your DOPE cards sync to your own private iCloud, not to Caliber.

  • One card per rifle and load
  • Mark holds confirmed at the range
  • Private: syncs only to your iCloud

Frequently asked questions

Is Caliber's ballistic calculator free?

Yes. The bullet drop calculator, DOPE book, uphill/downhill, distance estimator, scope adjustment, point-blank range and energy & recoil tools are all free. The shot timer is part of Caliber Pro.

Does it work for mils and MOA?

Yes. Choose MOA or mil scope units and your click value (for example ¼ MOA or 0.1 mil), and Caliber gives holds and clicks in those units.

Where do I find my bullet's ballistic coefficient?

The ammunition or bullet maker usually publishes it on the box or website, often as G1 and sometimes as G7. Use the G7 number for long, boat-tail bullets when it's available.

How accurate is the bullet drop calculator?

It's a solid starting point, but every rifle is different. Real muzzle velocity, scope height and conditions all matter, so confirm your holds at the range and record them in your DOPE book.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. The calculations happen on your iPhone.
