Is my data private?
Yes. You don't need an account. Your firearms, range log, target photos and lesson progress stay on your device and sync only to your private iCloud — they never reach us, and serial numbers and photos never leave your device in a backup. Two things do reach our server, only if you use them: range details you choose to suggest, and Caliber Classes (booking or teaching lessons, with Sign in with Apple). See our Privacy Policy.
Does my data sync across devices?
Yes — through your own iCloud account (Apple CloudKit). Sign into the same Apple ID on each device and your armory, range log, and progress follow you. It also restores after reinstalling.
How do I back up my data?
Profile → Export creates a JSON backup you can save anywhere. For your privacy, photos and serial numbers are intentionally excluded from the file.
How does target scanning work?
Target scoring is part of Caliber Pro. On the Range tab, log a session and add a target photo. Tap "Scan for holes," then fine-tune by tapping or dragging. Tip: fill the frame with the target, shoot straight-on in good light, and enter how many rounds you fired so misses count toward your score. Up to ~12 holes per target scans most reliably; it works best with rifle and handgun holes.
How does booking a lesson work?
In Find › Instructors, choose an instructor and request a private lesson or a seat in a class. The instructor confirms or declines. Caliber Classes is for adults 18 and older, uses Sign in with Apple, and is available in every U.S. state and Washington, DC.
How do I pay, and what about refunds?
You pay your instructor directly, the way they list (for example cash, Venmo or Cash App). Caliber doesn't take or hold lesson payments, so it can't make or reverse refunds: each instructor shows their cancellation policy before you request, and any refund is between you and them.
Does Caliber check instructors?
No. Instructors describe their own experience and credentials, and Caliber doesn't verify them. Research an instructor before you book, and check with your state agency if you need a course for a permit or license (Caliber doesn't list those).
Something went wrong, or someone made you uncomfortable?
Use Report or Block from the conversation, profile or booking in the app, or email us. If you're in danger, call 911.
I'm an instructor. How do I list, and how do I cancel?
In Find › Instructors, tap Teach. Listing needs the Caliber Instructor subscription ($19.99/month through Apple, with a free trial for new subscribers). Cancel it anytime in Settings › your name › Subscriptions — deleting your Classes account doesn't cancel it.
How do I delete my data?
Caliber app: Profile › Reset All Data, or Delete Account. Caliber Classes: Profile › Caliber Classes › Delete Caliber Classes account. What's kept afterwards, and for how long, is in the Privacy Policy.
Is Caliber legal/training advice?
No. Caliber is an educational and tracking tool for lawful, responsible ownership. It is not legal advice and not a substitute for certified in-person instruction. Always confirm current law with the official sources cited in the app.
