Caliber is built privacy-first. Caliber has no server of its own and never receives, sells, or shares your data. There are no ads, no analytics, no trackers, and no third-party SDKs.
Everything you enter — firearms, ammunition, range sessions, target scores, maintenance logs, lesson progress, and any photos — is stored on your device using Apple's database (SwiftData) and synced only to your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit) so it's there on your other devices and after reinstalling. It is encrypted by Apple, kept in your personal iCloud account, and is not accessible to the developer. Nothing is ever posted publicly or shared with anyone.
Caliber asks for camera/photo access solely to let you attach pictures of your firearms and paper targets. Those images are private to you — stored on your device and synced only to your own private iCloud, never to the developer or anyone else.
Caliber may download reference content we host (firearm catalog, state-law summaries, news). These are one-way downloads — no information about you is sent in the request beyond what any normal file download requires (your IP address is visible to the hosting/CDN provider, as with any web request).
Caliber is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. It carries an age rating appropriate to its firearm-safety content, set via Apple's App Store age-rating questionnaire.
Caliber is an educational and tracking tool for lawful, responsible firearm ownership. It is not legal advice and not a substitute for certified in-person instruction. State-law summaries are awareness-only; always confirm current law with the official sources cited in the app and follow all applicable laws.
